Half-yearly results weren’t what you’d hoped for? Here’s five ways to easily improve your marketing efforts.

As we’re transitioning back to the workplace after the forbidden c-word, you may be feeling a bit lost. Times were tough, routines were thrown out of whack and it’s no shame to admit that you may have lost some motivation. So, the first half of the year may not have panned out exactly how you’d hoped. That’s ok! It’s never too late to try new things. We’ve got five ways to help you get your groove back and improve your marketing efforts for better results in the second half of the year.

Planning

The funny thing about planning is that there’s an idea that we don’t have time to plan because we’re so busy. But in fact, planning helps ease the workload. Blocking out even one hour a week, say 15 minutes a day to prepare some content ideas in advance will take a load off. We’ve all been there: all of a sudden things pile up and it becomes overwhelming so we end up throwing things into the ‘do later’ pile. That one thing that’s in the ‘do later’ pile could be the next make or break for your business. So instead of making sacrifices, just make time by planning. Start small. It doesn’t have to be six months in advance, even if it’s just the week ahead. Breaking things into smaller chunks is much more achievable.

Research

One of the best things you can do for your business is research. Self-research can give you insight into your audience’s needs and wants and will also help to keep you up-to-date with the latest trends in marketing. It’s also a great tool to help you generate new ideas and see what your competitors are doing. 

Scheduling

Have you ever said to yourself ‘I wish I had five more minutes?’. Well that can be a problem of the past. Scheduling your content not only saves time but it can help to set a regular posting schedule into place, ultimately helping to boost reach and engagement. Once you’ve gone through the initial planning stage and your content is ready to go, why not try the “set and forget” approach?  There are plenty of programs out there to try with free and paid options available. Again, start small. Try scheduling one or two posts a week and gradually build up when you get the hang of it. 

Communication

It’s like in any aspect of your life; communication is key. Allowing open and honest communication between yourself and your employees will resolve things faster. Falling behind schedule? Ask for help. Have an idea? Share it. Keeping things to yourself won’t help you or your business, so having an open, honest and respectful communication policy can help keep the gears turning.

Take a break

There’s no shame in needing a break. Working endless hours back to back is mentally tiring. Giving yourself a small break to switch off, meditate, take your eyes away from the screen, stretch, check a notification, Whatever it may be, separating from your work, especially when you’re in a mental block can actually be beneficial in gaining mental clarity and can actually increase productivity.

 

The key point in all of this is to start small. Starting too much at once can be overwhelming and set yourself up for failure. Achieving those smaller goals is not only creating the foundation for larger tasks, but it’s also so rewarding.
